Special Needs Adults Day Program in South Carolina

Special Needs Adults Day Program

At New Generations, we help caretakers provide the best quality of life for their loved ones with special needs. We never focus on disabilities, but rather each individual’s abilities. In 2007, New Generations started our Special Needs Adults Day Program for participants 18 years and older. Together, they formed Gary’s Gang, named after our founder Gail Belissary’s late autistic son.

Today, we’re proud to be one of the best special needs adult day programs in all of South Carolina. From fun daily activities to field trips and special events, we do more than just take care of our guests. We help fill their lives with connection, excitement and purpose to help them build self-esteem and independence. They get to thrive while their caretakers can find greater balance between looking after their loved ones and living their own lives. Contact us today for more information about how we can help you and your family.

Special Needs Adults Day Program For Everyone

We are well-equipped to care for adults 18 years and older with mild to severe learning, intellectual, physical or neurological disabilities. Gary’s Gang is filled with a mix of people from all ages and backgrounds with conditions including:

At New Generations we place participants’ personalities and preferences over their special needs, but we always pay close attention in order to create a personalized care program that promotes the best physical and mental health possible.

What Is Special Needs Care?

One of the biggest questions new families have when they first connect with us is what we do. They know that their loved one needs extra care and supervision throughout the day, but what really happens in a special needs adults day program?

Our highly trained and passionate staff perform many different activities throughout the day. New Generations advocates for the freedom of choice and independence as long as it is safe for every guest. In that respect, we craft person-centered care plans that embrace every person’s unique strengths, challenges, needs and boundaries.

Identifying goals with caretakers is another important component of our care model. We want every participant at our special needs adult day program to spend the time engaging in rewarding, enriching activities that help them develop skills, build self-esteem and form bonds with others. Gary’s Gang partakes in many different activities that include arts & crafts, games, puzzles, supervised outings and field trips and special events like talent shows and the Special Olympics!
